Privacy Policy — Hide My BF

Summary

Hide My BF ("the App") is a private, on-device vault that lets you lock selected photos, videos, contacts, and call-history entries behind a PIN, protected with AES-256 encryption. The App has no server. We, the developer, do not collect, receive, store, transmit, sell, or have any access to your content. Everything you put in the vault stays on your device unless you choose to back it up to your own Google Drive account.

Who this policy is for

This policy applies to all users of the App. The App is intended for adults (18+) to protect their own personal content on their own device. It is not designed for, and must not be used for, monitoring, tracking, or accessing the data of any other person without their knowledge and consent.

Information the App accesses (and why)

• Photos & Videos — To move selected media into your encrypted vault and restore it later.
• Contacts — To store selected contacts privately and restore them.
• Call Log — To back up, manage, and restore selected call-history entries.
• SMS — To back up, hide, and restore selected text messages on your request. To modify the messages store, Android requires the app to briefly act as your default SMS app for that single operation; it hands the role back immediately afterward. Messages are encrypted on-device and never leave your device except to your own Google Drive.
• Camera / Biometrics — Optional unlock and on-device photo organization.
• Network / Google Drive — Used only if you enable encrypted cloud backup.

The App requests these permissions only to provide the features you choose to use.

On-device Face Recognition

The App includes optional face recognition to help organize photos. All face processing runs entirely on your device. No facial images, templates, embeddings, or biometric data are uploaded, transmitted, shared, or accessible to the developer or any third party.

Data We Collect

None.

The developer operates no backend server and receives no user content or personal data. The App does not currently use:

• Advertising SDKs
• Analytics SDKs
• Crash Reporting Services

We do not build advertising profiles, track user behavior, or collect personal information.

Google Sign-In and Google Drive Backup

The App may allow you to sign in with your Google account to enable optional encrypted backups.

1. Vault data is encrypted on your device using a key derived from your PIN.
2. Encrypted backups are uploaded only to your own Google Drive account.
3. Backups are stored in the App's private Google Drive application folder (drive.appdata).

The developer never sees, receives, stores, or can decrypt this backup.

The App requests Google Drive access solely for backup and restore functionality. Access is limited to the App's private application data folder and is not used to access, view, modify, or share other files in your Google Drive.

How Your Data Is Shared

Your data is not shared with the developer or any third party.

If future versions introduce advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting services, this Privacy Policy will be updated before those services are enabled.

Data Security

• Vaulted content is encrypted on-device using AES-256.
• Encryption keys are protected using Android Keystore security features where available.
• Access is protected by a user-defined PIN and optional biometric authentication.
• Cloud backups are encrypted before leaving the device.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your data remains under your control.

• Remove individual items from the vault.
• Use in-app features to erase vault data.
• Delete cloud backups from your own Google Drive account.
• Stop using Google Drive backup at any time.

Uninstalling the App removes app-managed encrypted data stored within the App's private storage.

Because the developer holds no copy of your data, there is nothing for us to delete.

Children

The App is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect, process, or store information from children.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
